The Ministry of Vice and Virtue (MoVV) condemned the imposing of sanctions on officials of the Islamic Emirate, calling them unjust.

Speaking at cultural gathering in Kabul, the Deputy Minister of Vice and Virtue's (MoVV), said that sanctions and limitations of the US cannot divert the Islamic Emirate from its Islamic government goals.

“We strongly condemn the sanctions, the sanctions will neither divert the Islamic Emirate nor the ministry from its goal and the government will have its goals in the future as well,” said Muhammad Faqir Muhammadi, Deputy Minister of Vice and Virtue (MoVV).

On Friday, the US Treasury Department placed sanctions on 20 people in nine countries among them the acting minister of Vice and Virtue (MoVV) and head of the Afghanistan Science Academy.

Officials of The Ministry of Vice and Virtue (MoVV) claim that preventing vice is the duty of the government and that observing hijab is an Islamic principle and the women must abide by that.

 “This is not an individual’s work, this is the responsibility of families and the Muslims, the hotel owners should cooperate with the Islamic Emirate and not allow in their hotels the women without hijab,”said Muhammad Faqir Muhammadi, Deputy Minister of Vice and Virtue (MoVV).

“The prevention of immorality, prostitution, kidnapping and the collection of magicians, and referring them to justice are things the ministry has done,” said Abdul Ghafoor Sabawoon, head of information and publications of the Ministry of Vice and Virtue's (MoVV).

The head of the National Examination Authority who was also speaking at the gathering said less attention was paid for the country’s education sector which is the reason behind many problems in the country.

Abdul Baqi Haqqani said Afghans need better education in modern and religious studies.

“Now, we have education in a certain level both modern and religious. if we had an upper hand in modern studies, our fight against the Russian would not have been that long,” said Abdul Baqi Haqqani, the head of National Examination Authority.

Earlier, the European Union placed sanctions on the chief justice and the acting ministers of education and justice of the Islamic Emirate.
