Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, told TOLOnews that Monday's attack on a Shia mosque in the Guzara district of Herat does not signify the strengthening of Daesh in Afghanistan.
The spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate described the attack as a crime and said that efforts to find the perpetrators of this event are ongoing.
Daesh claimed responsibility for the attack on Monday on a Shia mosque in the Guzara district of Herat.
Mujahid said: "The recent crime by Daesh in Herat province is not an achievement for them and does not show their strength. It is a pure crime that has been committed and could occur in most countries. The security forces are aware of clues to this crime and, God willing, will bring the perpetrators to justice."
At the same time, Thomas West, the US special representative for Afghanistan, and Naseer Ahmad Faiq, Chargé d'Affaires of the permanent mission of Afghanistan to the United Nations, condemned the attack.
West called the attack a terrorist event and expressed sympathy with the families of the victims.
Thomas West on X said: "The United States strongly condemns the terrorist attack that killed innocent worshippers at a mosque in Herat last night. Perpetrators must be held accountable, and our thoughts are with those who lost loved ones.”
Naseer Ahmad Faiq on X said: "The targeted attacks against the Shiite communities of Afghanistan and the shedding of the blood of children and innocent people inside mosques are highly condemnable."
"Experience has proven that in 45 years, foreigners have provided these weapons and equipment, meaning these so-called Muslims have become soldiers for foreigners, including Britain, America, and regional countries," said Yousuf Amin Zazai, a military analyst.
In the attack on Monday evening on worshippers at a Shia mosque in Guzara district of Herat, five people including a woman and a child were killed and three others were injured.
