The Islamic Emirate says that a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs participated in the 15th summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the delegation headed by Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesperson for the Ministry, was set to participate in the session and discuss bilateral and multilateral issues with high-ranking officials of the organization and representatives of countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate stated: “In addition to participating in the session, the delegation of the Islamic Emirate is scheduled to discuss and dialogue on bilateral and multilateral issues with high-ranking officials of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and representatives of countries.”
The OIC Secretary-General, on the first day of the summit, stated that the OIC would continue its engagement humanitarian approach and constructive dialogue with the authorities of the interim government in Afghanistan.
Hussein Ibrahim Taha, during this session, called on member states to contribute to the organization's humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan through the Afghanistan Humanitarian Trust Fund (AHTF), which is under the supervision of the Islamic Development Bank.
The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, added: “In Afghanistan, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation has fulfilled its commitment to humanitarian approach and constructive dialogue with the de facto authority in Afghanistan under the framework of the UN Security Council resolutions and the Foreign Ministers' meeting. I urge you here to assist Afghanistan through the Afghanistan Humanitarian Trust Fund (AHTF), managed and overseen by the Islamic Development Bank.”
Najib Rahman Shamal, a political analyst, said: "The role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in expanding Afghanistan's relations with the world, especially Islamic countries, is valuable. This is contingent on the current interim government of Afghanistan heeding the requests and demands of this organization and taking practical steps to fulfill them and meet the aspirations of the Afghan people."
Janat Fahim Chakari, another political analyst, stated: "This is a very good action, provided that the Islamic Emirate strives to convince the Organization of Islamic Cooperation that their actions are in accordance with Islamic principles and to accept the representation of the Islamic Emirate in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation."
Previously, the Deputy and Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on the sidelines of the second Doha meeting on Afghanistan had mentioned that one of the issues to be discussed at the OIC meeting would be related to Afghanistan.
