The Islamic Emirate reported a 97% reduction in poppy cultivation and drug production in the country.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, stated that following the decree from the leader of the Islamic Emirate to ban the cultivation of narcotics, serious efforts have been made to prevent their production in the country.
Mujahid pledged that narcotics will not be smuggled from Afghanistan to other countries and that there is no need for other nations to be concerned.
The spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate added: "We believe that effective measures have been taken against narcotics cultivation. Now, if one or three percent of the cultivation remains, it is likely in places where people have built inside gardens or in remote mountainous areas."
At the same time, some military analysts have urged the interim government to completely halt the sale of narcotics within the country, and their smuggling abroad.
Mohammad Mateen Mohammadkhil, a military analyst, told TOLOnews: "The production of narcotics here [in Afghanistan] is prohibited, and it is also true that poppy cultivation has reached zero, as the United Nations has also noted."
Previously, the leader of the Islamic Emirate issued a decree banning the cultivation of poppy and the production of narcotics throughout the country. However, some countries and various organizations still express concerns about narcotics smuggling from Afghanistan.
