The Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate has expressed Afghanistan's solidarity with the people and government of Iran in response to the death of Ebrahim Raisi, the President of Iran.
Leaders from several countries, including India, Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar, and Russia, have sent messages of condolence, describing the incident as shocking, in which Ebrahim Raisi and seven others, including Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, lost their lives.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, said: "The Islamic Emirate and all Afghans are deeply saddened and affected by this tragic incident. We express our condolences to the Islamic Republic of Iran and its people, and extend our sympathies to all the families of the victims, the nation, and the government of Iran."
Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Foreign Minister, also highlighted the significant role of the Iranian President and Foreign Minister in promoting regional cooperation, especially with Afghanistan, during a meeting with the ambassador and special representative of Iran to Afghanistan
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Pakistan has declared a day of national mourning in solidarity with the people of Iran.
The Prime Minister of India mentioned Ebrahim Raisi's role in strengthening bilateral relations between India and Iran.
The President of Russia also referred to Ebrahim Raisi as a prominent politician who commanded great respect outside Iran.
"We had cultural and linguistic ties and good relations with Iran; therefore, we stand with the people of Iran in this tragedy," Salim Paigir, a political analyst, told TOLOnews.
"The countries in the region and Afghanistan expressed their feelings about the incident, and it is hoped that the relations between the two countries will continue to progress well under the future government of Iran," said Tariq Farhadi, an international relations analyst.
The helicopter carrying the President of Iran crashed while he and his delegation were returning to Iran after meeting with the President of Azerbaijan.
