15 People Die in Floods in Faryab, Sar-e-Pul, Baghlan

Fifteen people, including women and children, have died as a result of floods that occurred last night in the provinces of Faryab, Sar-e-Pul, and Baghlan.

Local officials in these provinces said that these floods have also caused significant financial losses to the people.

These floods occurred in the village of Gharji in the Kohistan district of Faryab province, the village of Soufak in the Kohistanat district of Sar-e-Pul, and the Khaawash valley in the Khost district of Baghlan.

Esmatullah Muradi, the spokesperson for the governor of Faryab, told TOLOnews: "According to initial statistics, the number of victims of this flood has reached eight, and the bodies of several of them are still missing."

Habibullah Masroor, the spokesperson for the governor of Sar-e-Pul, said: "As a result of last night's floods in the village of Soufak in the Kohistanat district, four women and one child from one family died, and 150 houses and hundreds of acres of land were destroyed."

At the same time, flood victims in Baghlan and Faryab are calling for immediate assistance from the caretaker government and aid organizations.

"Help us. The flood took everything, nothing is left, neither food nor clothing," Ghuncha Gul, a flood victim in Faryab, told TOLOnews.

"At 9 p.m. last night, a very severe flood came. We lost a woman and around a hundred houses were destroyed, and five hundred livestock died," said Mahmood Shah, a resident of Khost district in Baghlan.

In recent weeks, deadly and destructive floods in the provinces of Baghlan, Faryab, Ghor, and some other provinces have caused significant financial losses to citizens in addition to human casualties.
