Local authorities in Sar-e-Pul reported that punitive sentences were carried out on 63 individuals, including 15 women, today (Tuesday) in this province.
According to local officials, these individuals were arrested by security forces for committing various crimes and have now been punished. The crimes committed by these individuals include fleeing from home, armed robbery, adultery, sodomy, and disrespect.
Habibullah Masroor, the spokesperson for the governor of Sar-e-Pul, stated that these sentences were carried out after being reviewed by three courts and sanctioned by the leader of the Islamic Emirate in the stadium of Sar-e-Pul city.
Each of these individuals has been sentenced to 15 to 39 lashes and imprisonment ranging from 6 months to 5 years.
Habibullah Masroor added: “Punitive measures were executed on 63 criminals, including 48 men and 15 women.”
Some residents of Sar-e-Pul believe that the execution of these punitive sentences will reduce the rate of criminal activities in the province.
Jamshid, a resident of Sar-e-Pul, told TOLOnews: “Young people will learn a lesson from the crimes they committed, and this will result in a decrease in crime and criminal activities.”
Dad Mohammad, another resident of Sar-e-Pul, said: “Anyone who is a criminal should be punished. We are happy and satisfied with this.”
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the governor of Panjshir has also reported the implementation of punitive sentences on two individuals who were arrested in this province on charges of illicit relations.
