Seven water regulation projects were started which cost 13 million Afs and were supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Paktia.
Authorities said that with the completion of this project, besides job opportunities and aiding farmers, it will prevent wasting water and destroying agricultural land.
Pakteia's director of the river zone said that this project contains the cleaning of two water containers, the building of one dam, and one canal in Zurmat district, as well as the building of a retaining wall in Gardez.
Mohammad Karem Fateh, head of Paktia's river zone, said: "This project was started by the FAO organization for water management and surface water feeding."
On the other hand, residents and farmers are very happy about implementing this project and require the implementation of more development projects.
"We used this for agriculture and groundwater feeding," said Shah Mohammad a farmer.
Abdul Ghafor, a resident of the Zurmat district of Paktia province, said: "We are very happy that the FOA started a project and worked for us."
The recent rain and floods have destroyed large amounts of land in Paktia.
