Members of the Chaman protest movement said that they will not yield to the repressive actions of the government of Pakistan.
They have added that one of their fundamental demands is the lifting of the requirement for passports and visas for crossing the Chaman-Spin Boldak crossing, and they will never abandon this demand.
This comes after Pakistani security agencies on Friday released several residents of Chaman who had been detained in recent protests, but five leaders of the movement remain imprisoned in Balochistan.
Faizullah, the organizer of the Chaman protest, said: "This protest is not one to surrender. We will not give up until the passport restriction is lifted."
Other members of the movement said that they are being treated in a colonial manner, but no one can change the course of their struggle.
"We are a colonized people and have not yet gained our rights. If we had obtained our rights, our elders and children would not be in such a miserable state, and our mothers would not be so displaced,” said Sadiq Naraz, a member of the Chaman protest movement.
The intensification of attacks by Pakistani military forces and the detention of members of the Chaman protest movement have been strongly condemned by nationalist and religious politicians in Pashtunistan and Balochistan. They have called on the Pakistani government to address the demands of the Chaman protest movement members instead of resorting to violence.
