Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, called on the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) to reflect the realities of Afghanistan in the upcoming UN Security Council meeting.
Mujahid said the establishment of interaction between the Islamic Emirate and the international community is one of UNAMA's responsibilities. He said that presenting an incorrect image of Afghanistan is one of the reasons for UNAMA's failure in its mission.
The spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate said: "So far, they have not been successful in this matter, and the reason is that they always proceed with their mission by presenting an incorrect image. They need to shape perceptions, normalize interactions with Afghanistan, and convince the countries that are still not interacting to engage."
The head of UNAMA is scheduled to present a quarterly report on the situation in Afghanistan to the UN Security Council on June 21 of this year.
Abdul Shakoor Dadras, a political analyst, told TOLOnews: "It is important because it reflects the period in which events have occurred in Afghanistan and what the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has done."
Mohammad Zalmai Afghan Yar, another political analyst, said: "In the past two years and ten months, dozens of international meetings related to Afghanistan have been held. As long as France, the United Kingdom, Russia, China, and the United States—the five countries with veto power at the United Nations—do not reach a conclusion, these meetings will not yield any results for Afghanistan."
Meanwhile, in its quarterly report titled, "The Human Rights Situation in Afghanistan," published on May 2, UNAMA expressed concern about the lack of change in the human rights situation in Afghanistan.
