The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate welcomed the appointment of Nicaragua's non-resident ambassador to Afghanistan.

In a statement, the ministry mentioned that the Islamic Emirate views the establishment of diplomatic relations with Nicaragua as a positive development and hopes for the expansion of bilateral relations between the two countries.

According to the statement, the ministry has instructed the Embassy of the Islamic Emirate in China to maintain close working relations with the Nicaraguan Embassy in Beijing.

Part of the statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reads: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Republic of Nicaragua a positive step and hopes that bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest will further expand."

Earlier, Nicaraguan media reported that the country has appointed Michael Campbell as its non-resident ambassador to Afghanistan.

Rosario Murillo, the Vice President of Nicaragua, confirmed the appointment of their ambassador and added that the current ambassador in China will handle Afghanistan-related matters from Beijing.

The Vice President of Nicaragua said: “We thank the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, its people, its government, for the approval they have given to our comrade Michael Campbell.”

"Any country that establishes diplomatic relations is beneficial for Afghanistan. Although Nicaragua is not a significant country, it will have an impact just as other countries establish relations," said Aziz Maarej, a former diplomat.

Some political analysts consider the appointment of Nicaragua's ambassador to Afghanistan important for increased interaction with countries and recognition of the Islamic Emirate.

"Any country from any continent that appoints an ambassador to Afghanistan or accepts Afghanistan's ambassador in their country indicates some level of interaction with Afghanistan," said Idris Khan Zazi, a political analyst.

"Countries with which we have had long-standing relations can engage with Afghanistan because Afghanistan is one of the founding countries of the United Nations," said Moeen Gul Samkanai, a political analyst.

Nicaragua is the largest country in Central America by area, with its capital in Managua. This is the first time the country has appointed a non-resident ambassador to Afghanistan.
