Trump Accuses Biden of 'Embarrassing' Withdrawal from Afghanistan

The first US presidential election debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump was held.

Donald Trump, the former US President and a staunch rival of Joe Biden, called the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan "embarrassing."

In this ninety-minute debate, Trump also criticized the abandonment of billions of dollars worth of equipment in Afghanistan and the killing of American soldiers during the withdrawal.

The former US President said: “Afghanistan, where we left billions of dollars of equipment behind, we lost 13 beautiful soldiers and 38 soldiers were obliterated, and by the way, we left people behind too, we left American citizens behind.”

In response to Trump's remarks, Joe Biden said that during his presidency, no soldier was sent anywhere.

Biden, referring to his presidential term, added that no American soldier was killed during his term.

Joe Biden, the US President, said: "When he [Trump] was president, they were still killing people in Afghanistan. And he didn't do anything about that. When he was president, we were still finding ourselves in a position where you had a notion that we were this safe country. The truth is, I'm the only president this century that doesn't have any this – this decade, that doesn't have any troops dying anywhere in the world, like he did.”

Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate called the military defeat of American forces in Afghanistan one of the fundamental reasons for the US withdrawal from the country.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, says that the US aimed to establish a permanent base in Afghanistan, which led to its defeat.

Mujahid said: "The withdrawal of American forces was based on their defeat in the military arena, and this was achieved through the struggle and jihad of the Afghan people. There is no doubt that America had long-term plans to stay in Afghanistan, and America wanted to make Afghanistan its permanent base."

After a twenty-year military presence, the US finally withdrew its last soldier from Afghanistan on August 31, 2021, ending its longest battle in the country.
