Today (Sunday, June 30), the third Doha meeting on the situation in Afghanistan is set to be hosted by Rosemary DiCarlo, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs.
According to participants in this meeting, the caretaker government's delegation will discuss various topics behind closed doors with the UN Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and representatives from countries and organizations.
This meeting will be held at 6:45 PM (Doha time) in Qatar.
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, said: "The initial actions will be in the economic sectors, and then this can lead to subsequent steps. The stance of the countries we met with seemed to indicate that they are willing to have interactions with Afghanistan."
The independent assessment of the special coordinator of the Secretary-General of the United Nations on the topics discussed on the first day of the meeting has been mentioned among the participants; however, this matter has not yet been officially confirmed.
"If we can manage, we can make our voice heard to the international community through these meetings and hear their voices as well; politics is not a one-way route," said Mohammad Salim Paigir, a political analyst.
On the second day of this meeting, issues related to the private economic sector and drugs are expected to be addressed.
Some experts believe that this meeting could be effective in the caretaker government's relations with other countries.
"This meeting, in which the Islamic Emirate is present, can significantly allow parties to hear each other and pave the way for interactions," said Samiullah Ahmadzai, a political analyst.
Zakir Jalali, director of the third political department of the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Emirate, also said that the third Doha meeting will be held for two days and the meetings and discussions on the third day will not be related to this meeting.
Earlier, spokesman for the UN Secretary-General also mentioned that the officials of this organization are scheduled to meet with civil activists and women on the third day of this meeting.
