The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate has expressed hope that with the inauguration of the new president in Iran, relations between Kabul and Tehran will be strengthened and expanded in various areas.
In a statement, the ministry also congratulated the citizens of Iran on the election of their new President.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' statement reads: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan congratulates the people and the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the election of the new government. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan hopes that with the new government in power, the relations between the two neighboring and Muslim countries will be further strengthened and expanded in various fields."
Meanwhile, some experts urged the caretaker government to enhance its relations with Tehran and resolve existing challenges.
Salim Paigir, a political analyst, stated: "The new president of Iran can play a significant and essential role in the relations between Iran and Afghanistan, and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan should also have close cooperation with Iran because we have five million refugees in Iran."
Jannat Faheem Chakari, another political analyst, said: "It is necessary for the Islamic Emirate to increase its diplomatic interactions with Iran, to enhance its diplomats in the consulates, so that the situation of Afghans in Iran can improve."
Following the death of Ibrahim Raisi, the former president of Iran, due to a helicopter crash in East Azerbaijan, the presidential elections in the country were held earlier than scheduled, resulting in Masoud Pezeshkian being elected as the ninth president of Iran with over 16 million votes.
