Heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding in the provinces of Kunar, Kapisa, Panjshir, and Badakhshan have resulted in the deaths of seven people.
According to officials, the incident has caused significant financial losses, destroying hundreds of acres of farmland, dozens of orchards, and several roads.
In Kunar, five people lost their lives due to the floods, while in Kapisa, two people died and several others were injured.
Mohibullah Jahid, the head of Natural Disaster Management in Panjshir, said: “Flooding has occurred in most districts, except for Paryan, Hesa Awal, and Shutul. It has caused substantial economic damage to the people. The floods have destroyed most rural roads, making them impassable by vehicle.”
Meanwhile, the victims of these devastating floods are calling for immediate assistance from the authorities.
Farmer Mohammad Aziz said: “We face numerous problems; the floods have swept away much of our land on both sides of the river.”
Nafees Khan, a flood victim from Panjshir, also said: “In the village of Zamankur, a power dam serving two villages was engulfed by the flood, and several sections of the main road were also washed away.”
According to officials in Kapisa, residents of the Nijrab and Alasay districts have suffered significant financial losses in addition to the casualties due to the late Monday floods.
