Several families affected by severe storms and heavy rainfall in Nangarhar are urgently requesting humanitarian aid.
They report that, in addition to the loss of life, they have suffered significant financial losses as a result of the incident.
Samiullah, an affected individual, stated, "Ten people were martyred, and around eleven others were injured. Additionally, the people have incurred substantial financial damages."
Another affected individual, Masjedi, said, "People are homeless and have nothing."
Ahmad Shah, another victim, told TOLOnews, "The storm hit and caused us extensive damage; our homes and apartments were destroyed."
Meanwhile, the families of the victims say the storm also destroyed their farmlands, and they are seeking help from the interim government officials and aid organizations.
Mohammad Naeem, a victim, said, "It destroyed our agricultural lands, crops, and trees, killed my livestock, and demolished my house."
Ehsanullah, another affected person, said, "Yesterday, a storm occurred that destroyed our homes, ruined our crops, injured our children, and left us with no means of support."
Local officials in Nangarhar say that the Office of the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate has allocated 100,000 Afghanis for each deceased person's family and between 10,000 to 25,000 Afghanis for each injured person.
Saeed Ahmad Benori, the Deputy Governor of Nangarhar, stated, "One hundred thousand Afghanis have been allocated for each martyr and between ten to twenty-five thousand Afghanis for each injured person. Additional assistance will also be provided to these people."
As a result of Monday's storm in Jalalabad city, the capital of Nangarhar, and the districts of Surkh Rod, Bati Kot, Behsud, and several other areas of the province, around 40 people, including women and children, lost their lives, and 350 others were injured.
