Muttaqi: Alleged Human Rights Abuses, Terrorist Groups' Presence 'Baseless'

Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, said in a meeting evaluating the central departments of the ministry that Western accusations regarding human rights violations and the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan are unfounded.

Muttaqi also called on Western countries to adopt a path of engagement with the Islamic Emirate instead of making such statements.

The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs added: "Sometimes they talk about human rights, sometimes about women's rights, and sometimes they say that Al-Qaeda and other groups are present. Through what mechanism do you obtain this information? Thousands of kilometers away, you gather information from certain biased sources and enemies of Afghanistan and publish it under the name of documented information."

Amir Khan Muttaqi, without naming anyone, added that there are still circles trying to downplay the achievements of the Islamic Emirate over the past three years; achievements which, according to Muttaqi, have been made in various fields, including ensuring security and fighting drugs.

The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs further added in this meeting: "They continuously try to downplay the achievements of the Islamic Emirate over the past three years in areas such as security, prevention of drugs, and the initiation of large projects."

This high-ranking official of the acting government also said that the Islamic Emirate's relations with some countries have improved and other countries should also expand their relations with the Islamic Emirate.

He added: "Our political, economic, and commercial relations with the entire world have improved, there are no problems. For countries that have not yet taken the initiative, this opportunity is still available. It is our policy to have good relations with countries."

Earlier, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs had also mentioned in a meeting with the ministry's employees that the interaction of the acting government with countries and international institutions has made good progress.

These statements by Amir Khan Muttaqi about the improvement of the acting government's interaction with the world come at a time when no country has yet recognized the Islamic Emirate government.
