Islamic Emirate Condemns UNAMA Report as False

The Islamic Emirate has rejected the findings of the UNAMA report on the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, considering it disrespectful to Islamic laws.

Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate, said that according to Islamic laws, the rights of all citizens of the country are protected and that the UNAMA report is not factual.

The deputy spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate also said, "In a part of the UNAMA report, the implementation of Sharia law is considered a violation of human rights, which is clearly disrespectful to Islamic laws and provokes the sentiments of Muslims."

Previously, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) criticized the lack of human rights, especially the rights of women and girls, in Afghanistan in a report.

This six-page report covers issues such as women's and girls' rights, civilian casualties, poppy eradication operations in Badakhshan, incidents along the Durand Line, media freedom, corporal punishment, and several other matters from April, May, and June of this year.

The report said: "Following the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan on 15 August 2021, the de facto authorities had ordered the majority of female civil servants to stay home with a few exceptions for women working in the health, education and security sectors.”

Additionally, some political analysts believe that UNAMA's findings should be based on the current realities of Afghanistan.

Salim Paigir, a political analyst, told TOLOnews, "The United Nations reports on Afghanistan should be based on facts and the Afghan society, not on the wishes of groups or individuals. Whenever the reports are presented to the world by the people of Afghanistan, they will be accepted by the people and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan."

The Islamic Emirate has repeatedly said that the rights of women and girls in the country are better ensured within the framework of Islamic laws.
