Kabul Municipality announced the construction of eight overpasses for the movement of Kabul residents in the current solar year.
Nematullah Barakzai, a representative of Kabul Municipality, said that the cost of these overpasses will be 40 million afghani, adding that these overpasses will be built in various parts of the capital.
Barakzai said: "We have about eight pedestrian overpasses that will cost around forty million afghani and will be implemented this year. Additionally, we plan to build two large vehicle overpasses in two very congested areas of Kabul city, which are currently in the design phase. The design phase is one of the most expensive and strenuous stages for the construction of overpasses."
Meanwhile, some residents of Kabul consider overpasses effective in reducing congestion and traffic incidents, and they highlighted the need for public awareness for people to use the overpasses.
"The overpasses have been built for the movement of people and should be used by them and are not just for show," said Sayed Habib, a resident of Kabul.
"Advertisements should be made through televisions because people watch television more, and some signs should be installed near the overpasses," said Murtaza, another resident of Kabul.
"We request the government to build more overpasses in Kabul city to reduce traffic problems and issues faced by drivers," Ershad, a resident of Kabul, told TOLOnews.
After the Islamic Emirate's return to power in the country, Kabul Municipality has implemented some projects in the construction of roads, green areas, canals, intersections, and overpasses in the capital.
