The Supreme Court has reported the implementation of disciplinary punishment on 22 individuals in the past month across ten provinces of the country.
Abdul Rahim Rashid, the spokesperson for the Supreme Court, told TOLOnews that these individuals were convicted and punished for various crimes including theft and illicit relationships.
Rashid further said that the Islamic Emirate is committed to enforcing Islamic Sharia laws in Afghanistan.
The spokesperson of the Supreme Court told TOLOnews: "In the month of Muharram, disciplinary and Sharia punishments have been applied to 22 suspects and criminals accused of adultery, sodomy, illicit relationships, and theft across nearly ten provinces."
Earlier, the Supreme Court said that it would not succumb to any pressure from the international community in enforcing Sharia laws and urged the world to refrain from negative propaganda regarding the implementation of Sharia laws in Afghanistan.
