Local Residents Fund Construction of New Road in Jowzjan

The construction of a new road between Khwaja Bahawuddin and Qarqin districts in Jowzjan province has begun, funded entirely by local residents.

Residents of Khwaja Bahawuddin district stated that in the past, due to seasonal flooding of the Amu River, the road connecting these two districts would be blocked for about three months, causing significant challenges for the local population.

Abdul Majid Saadat, the district governor of Khwaja Bahawuddin, said, "The previous road would be closed for four to five months. Therefore, the people have decided to build the road themselves. Five million Afghanis have been spent so far. We ask the esteemed leaders of the Islamic Emirate to help us gravel this 20-kilometer road; without gravelling, it will not be sustainable, and the road will be destroyed."

Ghulam Sarwar, the security commander of Khwaja Bahawuddin district, stated, "You can see that flooding is still ongoing. That is why the people collected money and built the road, which was inaugurated today."

Khodaibirdi, another resident of Khwaja Bahawuddin district, said, "They made a plan, collected money, and built the road. It is 20 kilometers long. Now, our request to the Islamic Emirate is to pave and gravel this road."

Meanwhile, the Jowzjan Ulema Council has stated that they will bring all the challenges faced by the residents of Qarqin and Khwaja Bahawuddin districts to the attention of the Islamic Emirate authorities.

Khairullah Oghami, the head of the Ulema Council of Faryab, said, "We ask the leaders of the Islamic Emirate to make efforts to pave the road in Khwaja Bahawuddin district and complete the remaining sections for the people."

It is reported that Khwaja Bahawuddin district of Jowzjan is located 175 kilometers from Shiberghan city, the capital of Jowzjan, and is considered one of the remote districts of this province.
