Retirees Protest Non-Payment of Pensions Amid Economic Hardships

A number of retirees have once again protested due to the non-payment of their pensions, demanding that their retirement benefits be paid.

Some of them said that they are currently facing various economic challenges, and they urging the interim government to seriously address their demands.

"We are living in poverty and misery. I have even seen some retirees resorting to begging," Ali Ahmad, a retiree, said.

"I have packed up my belongings. The landlord says it's been three years now, and they do nothing. I am responsible for three orphans," a retiree, Abdul Wasi, said.

Other retirees warn that if they do not receive their pensions, their living conditions will worsen.

"We plead with the Islamic Emirate to pay us because we have problems. We have rent to pay, and we have sick people at home. Believe me, our belongings are currently in the courtyard," Zarifa, another retiree, said.

"I have never committed even the smallest act of dishonesty, and I have not taken anything for myself. I swear to you, someone even suggested that I do this and go to America, but I didn't do it. I didn’t betray my country. Those who committed treason have left the country; those who remain here are poor and destitute," Abdul Khaliq, another retiree, said.

So far, the Islamic Emirate has not recently commented on this matter.

Earlier, the administrative deputy of the Prime Minister told TOLOnews in an exclusive interview that the issue of retirees has been resolved by the leader of the Islamic Emirate and will be implemented under a specific mechanism.
