Several Afghan refugees in Iran claim that the country's security forces not only mistreat them but also forcibly take their money.
These refugees have asked the interim government to provide job opportunities in Afghanistan.
Mustafa, a deported refugee from Iran, said: "Last Saturday they arrested us, we arrived here today. We were severely oppressed, beaten, and treated in a way that no one would even treat animals. If the Islamic Emirate provides job opportunities for us, we would not be unfortunate to have to work in neighboring countries."
Hamid, another deportee, said: "In one camp, they bring in 500 refugees. They provide food twice a day, which is just beans. All the restrooms are broken, and another issue is that we paid money through a card once, and they even gave us a receipt. But half an hour later, when our group was full, they came and demanded cash."
Meanwhile, local officials in Nimroz said that in the past two months, at least 130,000 Afghan refugees have voluntarily or forcibly returned from Iran to Afghanistan.
Mohammad Ehsan Visal, the financial director of the Directorate of Refugees and Returnees in Nimroz, said: "Two to two and a half thousand refugees return to the country daily, and in the past two months, 120,000 to 130,000 refugees have returned. At the Silk Road Bridge, the Islamic Emirate and charitable organizations jointly provide financial assistance to our compatriots."
We sought to obtain the views of the Iranian Consulate in Kandahar on this matter but were unsuccessful.
In the past, Afghan refugees have repeatedly complained about the mistreatment by Iranian forces.
