Mirdef Alqashouti, the new Chargé d'Affaires of Qatar for Afghanistan, emphasized the importance of strengthening, and continuing, cooperation between Kabul and Doha, during a meeting with the acting Minister of Interior.
The Ministry of Interior reported that during the meeting, Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani described Alqashouti’s visit as significant for both countries and praised the relations between Kabul and Doha.
According to Abdul Mateen Qani, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, Mirdef Alqashouti also committed to expanding bilateral relations and cooperation during the meeting.
Qani stated, "In this session, Khalifa Sahib congratulated Dr. Mirdef Alqashouti on his appointment as Charge d'Affaires and said his arrival is important for both countries. He praised the historical ties between Qatar and Afghanistan and pledged further cooperation."
Nasir Shafiq, a university professor, remarked: "Qatar is one of the important countries in the region and has a good history with the Islamic Emirate. The Doha conference and negotiations have led the Islamic Emirate to pay attention to them, and Qatar has also paid attention to the Islamic Emirate."
Some political analysts believe that strengthening relations between the Islamic Emirate and Qatar can also positively influence the Islamic Emirate's engagement with the world.
Sayed Mansoor Ansari, a political analyst, stated, "We believe that Qatar can play a good role, not only in political matters, security, and peace in Afghanistan, but also in the country’s development and sustainable security."
In the past three years, although the Islamic Emirate has not been officially recognized by any country, it has managed to activate 40 diplomatic missions in various countries.
