Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, the leader of Pakistan’s Jamaat-e-Islami party, at a press conference emphasized the need for meaningful dialogue to address the existing challenges between Kabul and Islamabad.
The Pakistani politician urged his government to engage in talks with the Islamic Emirate.
The leader of Pakistan’s Jamaat-e-Islami party told reporters, "The door for dialogue must remain open, as it is the solution. You remember that we have always emphasized in press conferences that the government of Pakistan should engage in dialogue with the Afghan Taliban or the Afghan government, whose ambassador has recently been accepted by the United Arab Emirates. In my view, this issue cannot be resolved without dialogue."
In another part of his remarks, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman stressed the importance of maintaining good relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan. He added that the recent actions leading to strained relations between the two countries were not by the people of Pakistan but by some Pakistani officials.
He further added, "Pakistan must understand that both countries are free and their freedom must be respected. Afghanistan is our brotherly country. The relations between the two countries, which have supported each other for almost 45 years, have deteriorated due to actions taken by some rulers, not the people of Pakistan."
The Islamic Emirate has not yet commented on the remarks of this Pakistani politician.
Relations between Kabul and Islamabad have deteriorated following border clashes and statements by some Pakistani political and military officials regarding the presence of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Afghanistan.
Some analysts believe that Pakistan should seek the roots of its security challenges within its own territory.
Idris Mohammadi Zazi, a political analyst, said: "Now, if Pakistan wants to resolve its problems and have a stronger Pakistan, it should address its challenges within Pakistan and think about its own problems. They should talk to their own people who are causing trouble for them."
Earlier, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, criticizing Pakistan's recent policies towards Afghanistan, also said that Islamabad should not expect good relations from Kabul.
