The flooding in Kunar has not only caused human casualties but has also resulted in substantial financial losses.
Local officials of the province report that with the help of aid organizations, initial assistance has been provided to some of the flood victims, and efforts are ongoing to deliver further aid.
Najibullah Hanif, the local director of information and culture in Kunar, said: “According to information, there have been 5 casualties so far. The floods have swept away agricultural lands, and also damaged roads and small bridges. Yesterday, the road was blocked, but it has been cleared by the municipality.”
Residents of the area say that the floods have inflicted significant financial damage on them.
Zahidullah, a flood victim from Kunar, said: “There were severe floods yesterday, which damaged and destroyed our homes. All our clothes were swept away and ruined by the water.”
Those affected say the floods have taken all their possessions, and they are now facing many challenges.
Ibrahim, another flood victim, said: “There were severe floods yesterday and today, which have ruined our homes and rooms. Nothing in the house is left intact; everything has been destroyed.”
The affected families are calling on the interim government officials and aid organizations for immediate assistance.
Hazrat Gul, who was affected by the floods, said: “The fields and crops have been ruined, causing financial and human losses. The government and charitable organizations need to help us.”
Shah Wali, another flood victim, said: “The harvest has been lost. We request urgent assistance from the institutions and government.”
This comes amid reports that, due to floods last week, ten people have lost their lives, eight others have been injured, and a hundred residential houses have been either completely or partially destroyed in several provinces of the country.
