Kabul Residents' Dissatisfaction with Drinking Water Shortage

Some residents of Kabul are once again complaining about the shortage of drinking water. They are urging the authorities to pay serious attention to this issue and address the water shortage in the capital.

Mir Zarif, a resident of Kabul, said: "We are facing a lot of problems because of the water shortage. Look at the children, some of them do not have water and have to go to Bala Deh and Payan Deh due to the water shortage."

The lack of water has made their daily lives challenging, they say.

Khair Mohammad, another resident of Kabul, stated: "Their economic situation is very poor, they cannot buy water, and there are very few wells. There is only one well from which people fetch water, both from the upper and lower valley. Our request to the government is to dig another well for the people."

At the same time, officials from the Kabul Water Supply Zone say they have been able to increase water supply services in different parts of Kabul city over the past year by drilling water wells and implementing water projects.

Shafiullah Zahidi, the head of the Kabul Water Supply Authority, said: "The Bagrami project, which is one of our production projects, has 11 active wells providing services. Our plan is to transfer water from this source, which has abundant water, to Khushal Khan, as the Alaudin project is drying up. Our plan is to make the intermittent water supply 24-hour."

The head of the Kabul Water Supply Zone said they have plans for the upcoming year as well.

The shortage of drinking water is not a new challenge for the residents of the capital; it has persisted for years, but this problem has not yet been fundamentally resolved
