The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has reported an eleven percent increase in exports to Turkey in the first five months of the year 1403 (solar calendar) compared to last year.
According to officials from this ministry, in the first five months of this year, trade worth $45 million was conducted with Turkey, of which $8.3 million were exports.
Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad, spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, said: "Afghanistan's exports and imports with Turkey during the first five months of 1403 amounted to $45 million, with $8 million in exports and $37 million in imports. Compared to the first five months of last year, exports increased by 11 percent, and imports by 29 percent."
Meanwhile, the First Deputy of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment, in a meeting with the Turkish Ambassador in Kabul, emphasized strengthening commercial and economic relations between Kabul and Ankara and asked the Turkish Ambassador to invite his country's traders and investors to the third Imam Abu Hanifa exhibition.
Mohammad Younus Momand, the First Deputy of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment, told TOLOnews: "There are three or four major institutions in Turkey, two of which work directly with the Afghan Chamber of Commerce, and we have invited them to the exhibition to be held on October 6. This invitation has been made to encourage investment in Afghanistan."
Furthermore, several economic experts suggest that Turkey's investment in Afghanistan, especially in the sectors of mining, energy, and agriculture, could help improve domestic production and increase exports.
Abdul Nasir Rashtia, an economic analyst, expressed: "In every sector where we witness the attraction of investments, it will undoubtedly help us in job creation and also assist in driving towards economic growth."
