Victims of Kabul Explosion Laid to Rest; Families Demand Justice

Today (Tuesday), several victims of yesterday's deadly explosion in Kabul's sixth security district were laid to rest.

The families of those killed have called on the Islamic Emirate to swiftly identify and prosecute those responsible for the attack.

Sulaiman Khatgar, one of the victims of yesterday's explosion, left five family members without a guardian, according to his relatives. Khatgar worked in the Directorate of Supervision and Prosecution of Decrees and Orders.

Farooq, a family member of Sulaiman, told TOLOnews: "He was martyred in yesterday's explosion in front of the Attorney General's Office. He left behind four children, and his father is also disabled."

Abdul Sattar, another family member of the victim, said: "Those responsible for this incident must be punished for their actions. The perpetrators should be exposed to all the people."

Shamsuddin Shams, another family member of the victim, also stated: "Those responsible for this incident should be arrested and punished as soon as possible. The security forces must prevent such incidents, otherwise, things will only get worse day by day."

Meanwhile, the Kabul police command said that the investigation into yesterday’s incident in the Qala-e-Bakhtiyar area of Kabul is ongoing and that the perpetrators will be identified and arrested. Khalid Zadran, the spokesperson for the Kabul police command, pledged that the security sectors are committed to ensuring the safety of people's lives and property.

"We assure the families of the victims of this incident. As you are aware, in the past, when someone committed a crime or an act of terror like this, the perpetrators were quickly brought to justice," Zadran told TOLOnews.

Former President Hamid Karzai and the Chargé d'Affaires of the British Embassy for Afghanistan condemned yesterday's attack in Kabul and expressed their condolences to the families of the victims.

The Kabul police command confirmed yesterday that a suicide bomber detonated explosives strapped to his body in the Qala-e-Bakhtiyar area, within the sixth security district of Kabul. The attack resulted in six fatalities and left 13 others injured.
