Kyrgyzstan Removes Islamic Emirate from Banned List

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate has praised the removal of its name from the list of banned groups by the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.

Abdul Qahar Balkhi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Kyrgyzstan’s decision reflects the establishment of political understanding in relations with the Islamic Emirate at both regional and global levels and signifies the elimination of obstacles to further strengthening relations between the caretaker government and other countries.

Balkhi added: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate considers the removal of the Taliban Movement's name, previously attributed to the Islamic Emirate, from the banned list by the Republic of Kyrgyzstan as a commendable step and welcomes it. Similar to other countries, this move by Kyrgyzstan represents the establishment of political understanding regarding the Islamic Emirate in the region and the world, and signifies the removal of barriers to further strengthening bilateral relations between the Islamic Emirate and other countries."

"Kyrgyzstan has removed the Taliban from the terrorism list. In my opinion, this [decision] is a positive development in the relations between Kyrgyzstan and the Taliban, and the Taliban should be very pleased," said Wahed Faqiri, a political analyst.

Meanwhile, some political analysts believe that the removal of the Islamic Emirate's name from the banned list by Kyrgyzstan is beneficial for improving relations between the two countries. Some of these analysts believe that the caretaker government should also respond positively to the legitimate demands of the international community for more engagement with the world.

"Before formal relations between the Islamic Emirate and the world begin, the leaders of the Islamic Emirate should be removed from the blacklist, and Kyrgyzstan has taken the lead in this regard," Saleem Paigir, a political analyst, told TOLOnews.

Earlier, Kazakhstan was the first country to remove the names of the officials of the Islamic Emirate from the list of terrorist groups. Following this, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described Kazakhstan's decision as significant for expanding relations between the two countries.
