Clashes in Zazai Maidan Force Residents to Leave Homes

Islamic Emirate forces and Pakistani border guards clashed again today (Monday)  in the Zazai Maidan district of Khost, along the Durand Line, in the afternoon.

Residents of Khost have reported that due to fears of clashes, many local people have left their homes and sought refuge in safer areas.

In addition to the human casualties in the intermittent clashes in Zazai Maidan, residents have also suffered financial losses.

"In these clashes, people have suffered many losses, both human and financial. People’s homes and mosques have been destroyed, and livestock have also been lost," said Mohibullah, a resident of Zazai Maidan district in Khost.

"No one has stayed there. Today, people even moved their livestock, and people have also migrated from the Janda area," said Hayatullah, another resident of Zazai Maidan district.

So far, the Islamic Emirate has not officially commented on the matter.

Ahmad Khan Andar, a military affairs analyst, regarding the clashes between the Islamic Emirate forces and Pakistani border guards, said: "They cannot tolerate the current security situation in Afghanistan. For this reason, they are under pressure from their masters, and they also want to bring proxy wars back to Afghanistan."

"Continued tensions could negatively impact the diplomatic relations between the two countries in the future," said Mohammad Sadiq Shinwari, another military affairs analyst.

The clash between the Islamic Emirate forces and Pakistani border guards in Zazai Maidan district of Khost near the Durand Line began on Wednesday evening last week when Pakistani forces initiated the conflict while the Islamic Emirate forces were constructing a security outpost. Since then, military forces from both countries have clashed several times in the area.
