Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, the acting Minister of Interior, said that over the past twenty years, numerous efforts have been made to fuel ethnic, regional, and sectarian conflicts in the country.
During his visit to Kunar and in a meeting with the province’s officials, Haqqani, without naming anyone, added that some are still trying to create discord among the people of the country.
The acting Minister of Interior stated: "In the intellectual battlefield, the enemy has made considerable efforts to create regional, ethnic, and sectarian divisions. They do this to create discord and distance among the people."
In another part of his remarks, the acting Minister of Interior emphasized the need for responsibility and urged local officials to work toward maintaining the trust of the people and serving them.
Sirajuddin Haqqani added, "Make efforts in every area. Now, only the intellectual battlefield remains where they try to create religious, ethnic, and other problems."
Mohammad Khalid Hanafi, the acting Minister for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, also emphasized the unity among the country's citizens during this meeting.
The acting Minister for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice said: "How do we maintain our unity and solidarity? How do we practice obedience and discipline? We must not lose the sincerity and unity we had on the front lines."
Previously, during the inauguration of a mosque in Kabul's 11th security district, the acting Minister of Interior also said that no one would be allowed to harm the unity that has been established among the people.
