The 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal coincides with the birth of Prophet Mohammad Mustafa, the great Prophet of Islam (PBUH).
On this day, some religious scholars in the capital emphasize following the path and teachings of the great Prophet of Islam.
They say that with the birth of the Prophet of Islam, ignorance was eliminated, and brotherhood, unity, and fraternity replaced it.
Mubariz, a religious scholar, said: “The birth of the Prophet (PBUH) is a great blessing for the Muslim community. Allah (SWT) bestowed a great favor by sending the Prophet (PBUH) as a mercy to this world. It is incumbent upon the entire Muslim community to express their gratitude by celebrating the arrival of the Prophet (PBUH) and expressing their joy in his remembrance.”
Some other religious scholars regard the personality and life of Prophet Mohammad Mustafa (PBUH) as a model for humanity in every aspect and state that the great Prophet of Islam was of noble character and treated both young and old with compassion and kindness.
Haseebullah Hanafi, a religious scholar, said: “The entire life of the Prophet (PBUH), whether in terms of morality, social life, political life, or cultural life, is a unique model for humanity.”
Some residents of Kabul say that they commemorate this day every year by holding prayer ceremonies and giving charity.
Mir Sardar, a resident of Kabul, said: “It is the duty of Muslims, even if another thousand years pass — 1,400 years have already passed — and if another 1,400 years pass, they must continue to celebrate this day, as Muhammad (PBUH) is our leader and our religion, and we must celebrate this day.”
Sibghatullah, another resident of Kabul, said: “Most people give charity and alms in mosques and all their homes, considering this day to be a good day.”
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born on the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal in the year 570, or according to some narrations, in 571 CE. The great Prophet of Islam was commissioned as a prophet at the age of forty and, after 23 years of prophethood, passed away at the age of 63.
