Security forces in Herat have rescued Amir Ali, a nine-year-old boy, from kidnappers. According to officials, the child was abducted ten days ago from Herat's 9th district and was subsequently taken to Nimroz province and then to Kandahar.
The rescue operation was carried out by Herat security forces in coordination with the Kandahar police.
Raz Mohammad Madsir, the security chief of Herat police, told TOLOnews: "After several days, we located the kidnappers and, with the cooperation and coordination of the Kandahar Mujahideen, carried out an operation against them. The kidnappers were arrested, and Amir Ali was safely returned to his father."
Amir Ali was abducted while walking to school near his home in the western part of Herat city. The kidnappers had demanded $350,000 from the child's family.
Three individuals have been arrested by security forces on suspicion of kidnapping the child.
"I was walking down the street when they put a cloth over my nose, and I lost consciousness. They forcibly put me in a car," Amir Ali told a TOLOnews reporter.
Ali Akbar, the boy's father, said: "I told them, 'Where will we get $350,000 to pay you?' I told him over the phone that my entire extended family does not have $350,000 in assets. They told me that if I shared this matter with the Emirate, they would kill my son. I said, 'I trust in God.'"
Two women and one man have been arrested by security forces on suspicion of kidnapping Amir Ali. According to the police, the man and his two wives were involved in the abduction. Shah Wali Rahmat, the head of the criminal investigation at the Herat police, stated, "The kidnappers are originally from the Ghormach district of Badghis province. The group consists of one man and two women, who are his wives."
Security officials in Herat have stated that Amir Ali is the only child abducted in the province in recent months. They added that kidnapping groups in Herat have been suppressed, and the number of abductions has significantly decreased compared to the past.
