On Wednesday, officials from the Supreme Court stated during a program explaining their achievements that in the past year, the Supreme Court has resolved more than 185,000 cases, including over 3,000 cases involving women.
They also mentioned that during this period, approximately 179,818 various types of surety bonds have been executed.
Atiqullah Darwish, the Chief of the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court, said during the program: "Last year, 250,762 civil and criminal cases were processed through the three courts, of which 203,478 cases were in the primary courts."
Atiqullah Darwish added that, based on the decree of the leader of the Islamic Emirate on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, more than 2,000 people were released from prison, and nearly 2,000 others received sentence reductions.
The Chief of the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court added: "On the occasion of the minor and major Eids, a total of 2,304 individuals were released from prison, and 1,920 others were granted sentence reductions as deemed appropriate by the relevant authorities."
It was also stated during the program that the Supreme Court's High Council held 38 meetings last year and resolved 191 different issues during these sessions.
According to Supreme Court officials, any statutory laws that contradict Islam are not enforceable in the current Islamic system.
Mohammad Sharif Haqqani, the Chief of the Central Appeals Court, said: "Due to the large number of issues, it naturally takes time. This does not mean that the courts are negligent or that anyone's rights are being denied or that a decision is not being made in their case."
Abdul Malik Haqqani, the Administrative Deputy of the Supreme Court, said: "The Islamic Emirate has not taken any action regarding personal laws that do not serve the public interest or that conflict with Islam."
According to information from the Supreme Court, the assigned inspection team of this department has inspected 533 cases according to applicable rules and regulations. Supreme Court officials stated that within a year, they received 335 cabinet resolutions, orders, and decrees from the leader of the Islamic Emirate, on which appropriate actions were taken.
