The Iranian Human Rights Organization in a statement announced the execution of eight foreign nationals, including a woman and two Afghan migrants, in Iran.
The statement mentions that these individuals were arrested on various charges, and the court had sentenced them to death.
The Iranian Human Rights Organization added: “At least eight prisoners, including a woman and two Afghan nationals, were executed in Qezel Hesar Prison in Karaj on Wednesday, October 2, for charges ranging from murder to drug trafficking and rape.”
Meanwhile, some migrant rights activists have said that the Islamic Emirate should immediately engage in negotiations with Iran to prevent the recurrence of such executions.
Alireza Karimi, a migrant rights activist, told TOLOnews: "The Islamic Emirate must immediately engage in negotiations with Iran to defend the rights of Afghan migrants and prevent such incidents from recurring. These actions could include providing legal support to Afghans, thoroughly following up on their cases, and monitoring their conditions."
Hamdullah Fitrat, Deputy Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, stated that talks are ongoing to resolve the challenges faced by Afghan migrants in Iran.
The Deputy Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate added: "Regarding Afghan migrants who have been sentenced to death in Iran, we have shared this matter with Iranian officials, urging them to exercise caution in such cases and to cooperate in transferring Afghans convicted of various crimes to Afghanistan. Efforts are ongoing, and we are striving to prevent such incidents."
Last week, the Iranian Human Rights Organization also reported the execution of two Afghan nationals in that country.
