Over 9 Billion Afghanis Paid to Disabled Persons and Orphans This Year

Faisal Khamoosh, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled, stated on Wednesday that since the beginning of this solar year, 9 billion and 469 million Afghanis have been paid to disabled persons, women, and orphaned children.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled also mentioned the start of the second round of salary payments for martyrs and disabled persons, adding that this process has begun across the country.

Khamoosh said: "From the budget allocated to the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled, approximately 9 billion and 469 million Afghanis have been distributed to orphans, disabled persons, and widows."

At the same time, a number of disabled individuals have complained about the challenges in their lives and have demanded the timely disbursement of their allowances.

Islam Gul, a resident of Paktia province, has come to Kabul to receive his disability pension. He is the sole breadwinner for his family and faces numerous economic challenges.

Islam Gul told TOLOnews: "We haven’t received our salaries for the past six months, and now they should pay us for the previous six months."

Other disabled individuals also spoke about the economic hardships they face. They said their rights should be paid as soon as possible by the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled.

Abdul Saboor, one of the disabled individuals, said: "Our disability salaries have not been paid on time; only the first round has been paid, and nothing since then. Winter is approaching, and we will face difficulties."

Ahmad Munir, another disabled individual, said: "Our request is that they also pay us for the second round because winter is coming, and we have nothing to prepare for it."

According to officials from the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled, there are 653,000 disabled individuals, widows, and orphans across the country.
