Traffic Police: Incomplete Vehicle Repainting Bars Drivers From Operating

Khial Mohammad Ghawar, the Chief of Kabul Traffic Police, said that no driver is allowed to operate on the roads before completing the vehicle repainting process. Ghawar said that drivers who violate this rule will face legal consequences.

The Kabul Traffic Police Chief emphasized, "My request to all taxi drivers is that when bringing their vehicles for repainting, they must refrain from driving in the city until the process is fully completed. If their cars are partially painted, or if they’ve removed parts like lights or other accessories, they should avoid using the roads."

Some drivers have expressed concerns that the repainting process is time-consuming and are urging officials to expedite the procedure.

Ajmal, a driver, said, "Those who haven’t fully repainted their cars and have only applied primer are forced to drive in the city, but if an accident happens, they will face many challenges."

Another driver, Sayed Afzal, said, "Our expectation from the Traffic Department is to ensure the remaining cars, which are still yellow, are fully repainted. Some cars are driving without plates, and others are in poor condition."

Previously, the General Traffic Department reported that more than 20,000 taxis across four zones of the country have been repainted, with 7,000 in Kabul alone, and the process is ongoing in all provinces.
