The head of the Islamic Emirate's political office in Qatar, Suhail Shaheen, said that this office is working to persuade countries to transfer their embassies from Doha to Kabul.
Shaheen told TOLOnews that foreign diplomats in Qatar are consistently requested to travel to Kabul and discuss this matter with the senior officials of the Islamic Emirate.
The head of the political office of the Islamic Emirate in Qatar said: "There is always an effort to have all countries move their embassies to Kabul or to see the reality with their own eyes and meet our leaders in person."
Shaheen, speaking about the recent appointment of Italy’s new ambassador to Afghanistan, also mentioned that he regularly met with Italy's former chargé d'affaires to discuss the relations between the two countries and Italy's assistance in the health sector and economic projects. According to Shaheen, such discussions will continue with the new Italian ambassador as well.
He said, "We had regular meetings with Italy’s previous chargé d'affaires for Afghanistan, where we discussed Afghanistan-Italy relations and Italy’s assistance to Afghanistan, especially in health and economic projects."
Meanwhile, some political analysts say that to reopen Western embassies in Kabul, certain demands of these countries need to be considered.
Salim Paigir, an economic analyst, told TOLOnews: "The legitimate demands of Western and Eastern embassies should be accepted, including the rule of law in the system, issues concerning schools and universities, and the employment of women, so that they may come and reopen their embassies within Afghanistan."
The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced last week that Sabrina Ugolini has been appointed as the country's ambassador to Afghanistan, who will operate from Qatar.
