The Islamic Emirate delegation has confirmed the shooting of a number of Afghan migrants at the Iran border after two weeks of investigation, reporting that two people lost their lives in this incident.
Hamdullah Fitrat, Deputy Spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate, stated that based on findings from the Islamic Emirate’s team, the shooting of Afghan migrants occurred in the Kalagan area in Iran. An explosion also took place, resulting in injuries to 34 others.
According to Fitrat, some individuals who were present in Kalagan at the time of the incident are currently in Iran and Pakistan. Efforts are ongoing to locate them and conduct further investigations regarding this incident.
The Deputy Spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate said: “So far, from this tragic event, two martyrs and 34 eyewitnesses, some of whom are also injured, have been brought by the delegation, while others remain in Iran and Pakistan.”
Hamdullah Fitrat also said that the investigation into this incident has not yet been completed and that the Islamic Emirate’s team is continuing their work in this regard.
Sayed Akbar Sial Wardak, a political analyst, told TOLOnews that it is the duty of the state to take responsibility for such incidents. He said: “Whenever Afghan citizens are killed anywhere, the state has a responsibility to question these acts and ask why these countries act contrary to international laws and violate human rights.”
Salim Paigir, another political analyst, commented: “It is the duty and religious, Islamic duty of the Islamic Emirate to defend its citizens anywhere in the world so that such situations do not arise in any country to the detriment of Afghans.”
On the 25th of Mizan (solar month), reports surfaced about the shooting of Afghan migrants at the border with Iran, which was denied by the Iranian Ambassador in Kabul. A day after these reports were published, the Islamic Emirate appointed a delegation, led by the Deputy Minister of Security in the Ministry of Interior and yrepresentatives from the Ministries of Defense, Foreign Affairs, Borders, and the Directorate of Intelligence, to investigate this incident.
