A delegation from the Ministry of Borders and Tribal Affairs recently visited Kunar province, inspecting at least six of its districts along the Durand Line.
Ghulam Sediq Sabawoon, the head of the delegation, reported during the visit that security is currently being maintained along the Durand Line.
Sabawoon, who leads border inspections for the Ministry of Borders and Tribal Affairs, stated that the Islamic Emirate is prepared to monitor and defend the nation’s land and borders.
Tasleemullah Haqqani, spokesperson for the Ministry, told TOLOnews, regarding the delegation’s visit, said: “Currently, security is ensured on both official and unofficial borders of the country, and all Islamic Emirate officials are ready to defend their borders and land.”
Some political and military analysts consider the Islamic Emirate’s recent border inspections, including along the Durand Line, as significant, noting that greater focus on territorial integrity is essential.
Idris Mohammadi Zazi, a political analyst, told TOLOnews: “Controlling both official and unofficial borders is a government responsibility, and inspections must be conducted regularly.”
Military analyst Yusouf Amin Zazi commented: “Governments on both sides are responsible for providing facilities to the people and collaborating in areas like economy, infrastructure, education, and other fields to enhance border security.”
Previously, the Ministry of Borders and Tribal Affairs had noted that, over the three years of Islamic Emirate governance, 60% of border issues with neighboring countries have been resolved through dialogue, with ongoing efforts to address remaining challenges.
