Hamdullah Fitrat, the deputy spokesperson of the Islamic Emirate, responded to the statements made by the Secretary-General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), saying that Afghanistan poses no threat to other countries.
Fitrat added that the Islamic Emirate has fulfilled its responsibilities in ensuring security, and neighboring countries should not feel concerned in this regard.
The deputy spokesperson also described drug trafficking as a global issue and stressed that all countries must work together to combat this challenge.
Speaking to TOLOnews, Hamdullah Fitrat said: “Afghanistan is now secure, and no threat arises from its territory toward other countries. We have secured our borders, so neighbors need not worry. Some steps have also been taken to curb trafficking, and given that trafficking is a global challenge, it is necessary for all involved countries to take joint action.”
Previously, Russia’s TASS news agency reported, quoting the CSTO Secretary-General, that the organization continues to monitor challenges and threats arising from Afghanistan. The CSTO Secretary-General added that these efforts are coordinated through the organization’s Council of Foreign Ministers’ working group on Afghanistan.
The TASS report stated, “The secretary-general noted that the organization continues to monitor challenges and threats stemming from the Afghan hub and coordinates efforts to address them through the CSTO Foreign Ministers Council's working group on Afghanistan. Representatives from the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center and the CIS Border Troops Commanders Council's coordination service also participate in these efforts.”
Earlier, the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) also supported the CSTO's plan to establish a security belt around Afghanistan.
