The Ministry of Justice has reported the reclamation of more than 37,000 acres of state land over the past month.
According to the ministry’s statement, this land was reclaimed from thirteen provinces, with the majority located in Takhar province.
Barakatullah Rasooli, spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice, stated that the reclaimed lands are situated in the provinces of Nangarhar, Kunduz, Takhar, Parwan, Ghor, Panjshir, Laghman, Sar-e Pol, Samangan, Badghis, and Maidan Wardak, and that after assessment, they were reclaimed and handed over to the relevant authorities.
The spokesperson said: “In the month of Rabi' al-Thani, year 1446, technical teams dedicated to preventing land usurpation reclaimed over 37,429 acres of Emirate land across thirteen provinces, which have since been handed over to the relevant departments.”
He added that these technical teams have also identified over 520,000 acres of state land across 24 provinces over the past month.
According to Barakatullah Rasooli, more than 787,000 acres of land in 31 provinces are currently under review by the Ministry of Finance.
Salim Paigir, a political analyst, said: “Over the past 43 years, both public and private lands have been seized by powerful individuals. The duty of the Islamic Emirate is to reclaim these lands from those who seized them and allocate them to those in need, especially returning migrants.”
Moeen Gul Samkani, another political analyst, said: “We know of individuals who lack anyone to advocate for their confiscated lands and cannot afford legal assistance. We urge the government to address these cases so that rightful owners ultimately regain their property.”
According to Ministry of Justice officials, the assessment, identification, and reclamation process of state lands is ongoing in all provinces. Previously, the Ministry of Justice had also reported the review of over 17,000 acres of land in Kabul and several other provinces.
