Acting Minister of Borders and Tribal Affairs Noorullah Noori, who visited Barmal district in Paktika province to investigate the Pakistani airstrikes, stated that all victims of this incident were civilians.
According to Noori, the Pakistani airstrikes targeted Waziristani refugees. He warned that once the investigations are complete, Pakistan’s actions will not go unanswered.
The acting minister also described the Pakistani airstrikes in this district as a blatant violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty.
Noori said: “We need to investigate what objectives these attacks were carried out for, and this will become clear.”
According to the acting minister, more than 50 people lost their lives and 40 others were injured in this incident.
Noorullah Noori further stated: “Based on what we observed on-site and in discussions with the people, so far, we have information about 51 or 52 martyrs, around 40 injured, and four to five houses destroyed.”
The village of Laman, one of four areas in Barmal district of Paktika province, was targeted by Pakistani fighter jets on Tuesday night. Local residents reported that in one family of 16 people, 15 lost their lives.
