A number of retirees once again held a protest gathering in Kabul to demand their salaries.
They stated that more than a month has passed since the decree of the leader of the Islamic Emirate regarding the payment of retirees' salaries, but there is still no sign of its implementation.
The retirees claim that when they visit the relevant authorities, they do not receive clear answers.
Habibullah, one of the retirees, told TOLOnews: "It has been more than three weeks since the court order reached the retirement department, yet no action has been taken here."
Another retiree, Mirwais, said: "The fate is unclear, the work is unclear. They keep saying today, tomorrow, or within a week, a commission will be formed. What kind of commission is this? It's not a commission for a foreign country that takes so much time; it’s just a group of ten or twenty people."
The retirees also complain about the economic challenges they are facing during the winter and call on the Islamic Emirate officials to expedite the payment process of their salaries.
Ghulam Ishaan, a retiree, said: "We hope that our salaries will be paid as soon as possible. We are here with empty stomachs, bare feet, and living in misery."
Another retiree, Gulabuddin, stated: "All retirees are poor and facing economic problems. They are unable to work, and they are not even allowed to beg."
According to statistics, the number of retirees in the country currently exceeds 150,000, and their annual salaries are estimated to be worth more than 12 billion afghani.
