The Ministry of Vice and Virtue has announced that over 1,180 complaints were registered in February this year, out of which 850 have been addressed.
Saif-ul-Islam Khyber, the spokesperson of the ministry, stated that last month, 30 complaints from women were also resolved.
He said: "The religious inspectors, including those in Kabul and all provinces, ensured the rights of 30 women in compliance with Islamic laws, registered their complaints, and addressed them in Dalwa month of the solar year 1403 (January 20-February 18)."
The spokesperson denied claims made by some foreign officials and a UN special rapporteur’s report, which suggested that restrictions on women in Afghanistan have increased.
He added that since the return of the Islamic Emirate, the ministry has prevented over 6,000 forced marriages.
Saif-ul-Islam Khyber stated: "It has been said that this law violates women's rights and forces them into compulsory marriages, whereas our ministry’s efforts over the past three and a half years have prevented more than 6,000 forced marriages, approximately 6,200 cases."
The ministry also urged investors, traders, and shopkeepers to refrain from hoarding goods, especially during the month of Ramadan.
Saif-ul-Islam Khyber added: "Those who engage in such practices should know that the religious inspectors have the authority and duty to prevent excessive profiteering, hoarding, and false oaths. We urge all people to avoid these unethical and un-Islamic actions, which have been prohibited by Almighty Allah and our Shariah, not only during the holy month of Ramadan but at all times."
According to statistics from the Ministry of Vice and Virtue, the department has addressed 28 cases of ethnic and family disputes in February and has arrested 12 individuals on charges of sorcery.
