Kabul Promotes Urban Culture with Free Books and Bags

The Kabul Municipality has distributed books, brochures, magazines, printed materials, and cloth bags free of charge to citizens.

Officials from the municipality stated that the purpose of this initiative is to promote urban culture.

“We are trying to weaken harmful and problematic cultural habits in Kabul and replace them with positive ones,” stated Nematullah Barakzai, a representative of Kabul Municipality.

Participants in the program emphasized that such cultural initiatives play a crucial role in the development of urban living culture.

They also urged citizens to take part in keeping the city clean.

“Such programs are very beneficial for our young generation, encouraging them to read more and adopt the habit of using cloth bags to help reduce pollution in our city,” said Samim, a Kabul resident.

“It is important for us to throw our waste in trash bins to keep the city clean. Unfortunately, many young people simply throw empty bottles and trash on the streets,” said Abdul Zohoor, another resident.

“Citizens must actively participate in keeping their city clean,” said Wasi Gul, also a Kabul resident.

Urban culture consists of a set of rules and principles that, when followed by both citizens and officials, contribute to the order and beauty of a city.
