A group of retirees in Kabul once again held a protest, demanding the Islamic Emirate pay their overdue pensions.
The retirees say they are grappling with severe economic hardships, and the non-payment of their pensions has made life increasingly difficult.
The Islamic Emirate has not yet provided a specific timeline for when the retirees' payments will be issued.
Abdul Hakim, a retiree, said: "It’s been four years of promises, but nothing has been paid. Every week we come here hoping to find someone who will listen, but no one pays attention."
Mukhtar, another retiree, said: "Since the beginning of the year, we've been told to come today or tomorrow. Even a decree was issued ordering our payments, but the promises remain unfulfilled."
The retirees consistently express their frustration with worsening financial conditions, stating they have no source of income and are barely surviving.
Habibullah, another retiree, said: "Eid is here. My children want clothes, shoes, and food—but I can't even afford bread. I don’t know where to turn."
Sayed Sahib Shah also noted: "It’s now the fifth year our pensions haven't been paid, and still, there’s no sign of resolution."
Although the leadership of the Islamic Emirate previously issued a directive for the payment of pensions, no timeline has yet been announced for its implementation.
