Gholam Reza Najari, deputy ambassador of Iran in Kabul, expressed hope for the expansion of Tehran's political and economic relations with Kabul.
In an interview with TOLOnews, he said that the relationship between the two countries is currently in a good state and the process of its development is ongoing.
The deputy ambassador said: “The development of relations in various sectors, including political, economic, and other areas, is fortunately increasing and expanding in light of ongoing developments. We hope that this trend continues at the same pace, and that we witness further growth and prosperity in relations this year and even next year.”
Earlier, Alireza Bikdeli, the acting Ambassador of Iran in Kabul, stated that Iran’s policy toward Afghanistan focuses on strengthening and expanding border relations to facilitate the movement of people between the two countries and to enhance bilateral trade relations.
Abdul Nasser Shafeeq, a political analyst, said: “There is no doubt that Iran is a country with its own challenges; but we also face problems. Therefore, the commonalities between the two nations necessitate closeness, as the challenges both countries face require joint resistance.”
Hamidullah Hotak, another political analyst, remarked: “Every country acts based on its national interests. Iran, which has recently become very close to the current government of Afghanistan, still lacks the courage to officially recognize it. Our emphasis remains that each country and its people should make decisions based on their national interests.”
Meanwhile, the Islamic Emirate has consistently stressed the importance of positive relations with neighboring countries and the world.
Previously, Iran’s foreign minister also stated that sovereignty and security have been established in Afghanistan, and that the situation has seen positive changes compared to the past.
