First Round of 1404 Kankor Exam Set for 7th Jawza

The first phase of Afghanistan's 1404 (solar year) university entrance exam (Kankor) is scheduled to be conducted on the 7th of Jawza for candidates from eleven provinces.

The National Examination Authority announced that this year’s Kankor exam will be held in five phases across the country.

According to officials at the National Examination Authority, over 112,000 candidates will be admitted to higher education institutions, semi-higher education programs, and master’s and doctorate programs.

Abdul Baqi Haqqani, acting head of the National Examination Authority, said: "This process will be completed in five phases: three phases in the provinces, one phase in Kabul, and the fifth phase will be for miscellaneous cases, especially for candidates who were absent in the provinces."

According to the authority, the second phase of the Kankor exam will be held from the 28th to the 30th of Jawza, the third phase from the 4th to the 6th of Saratan, the fourth phase on the 13th of Saratan, and the final phase, the miscellaneous exam, will be held on the 20th of Saratan.

Yama Aman, technical advisor to the National Examination Authority, said: "In the bachelor’s degree programs, 76,400 candidates will be admitted; in the semi-higher education programs, 33,550 candidates; and in the postgraduate (master’s and doctorate) programs, 3,000 candidates."

Officials also stated that the general results of the 1404 Kankor exam are expected to be announced by the end of Saratan or the beginning of the first week of Asad.

The 1404 Kankor exam is being held at a time when the fate of reopening girls’ schools beyond the sixth grade remains uncertain.
